Tempe Sister Cities 2025 Visits to our Sister Cities – Beaulieu sur Mer

Tempe and Beaulieu-sur-Mer officially became Sister Cities in 1997, during Tempe’s 125th anniversary celebration.
Beaulieu-sur-Mer—which translates to “beautiful place on the sea”—lives up to its name as one of the true gems of the French Riviera. Experiencing it firsthand is a real delight—not just for the breathtaking scenery and rich history, but also for the warmth and generosity of our Sister Cities counterparts and everyone we met along the way.

Our April trip to Beaulieu-sur-Mer provided us with a taste of the region’s magic. Even though our visit was brief, we managed to see nearby towns like Nice, Villefranche, Èze, Monaco, Menton, Vence, and the charming medieval village of St-Paul-de-Vence. These moments only touched on the area’s rich cultural and historical layers. Nestled between Nice and Monaco, Beaulieu-sur-Mer greeted us with heartfelt hospitality by residents and local officials, who made us feel truly at home. Their kindness and pride in their community left a lasting impression.

During our trip, we visited historic landmarks, strolled through the charming harbor filled with yachts, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere of local markets and cafés. We also discovered more about Beaulieu-sur-Mer’s ties to prominent figures like Gustave Eiffel and Queen Victoria.

This visit strengthened the bond between our communities and reaffirmed the importance of our Sister Cities partnership. We look forward to the day we can return the hospitality and welcome our friends from Beaulieu-sur-Mer to Tempe. We also want to recognize and celebrate our counterparts—they are all volunteers and deeply dedicated to our sister cities relationship. A heartfelt thank you from all of us to team BEM, Roger Roux, Mayor of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Sylvie Sinnonio, Marie Claire Newman, Karine Ciofolo, Cécile Navenot, and Ghislaine and Claude Lamasuta.
